Karan Johar Gives An Update About 'Student Of The Year 3', Reema Maya To Direct OTT Version Of The Film
At the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) in Chandigarh, Karan Johar spoke about 'Student of the Year 3'.
New Delhi: Producer Karan Johar confirmed that ‘Student of the Year’ will be adapted into a TV series, and ‘Nocturnal Burger’ director Reema Maya will helm the project. On Sunday, the last day of the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) in Chandigarh, the director announced this news.
Karan said, "Reema Maya will be directing the digital version of 'Student of the Year'. But it will be her way and definitely not mine," as quoted by PTI.
The director added, “If I'll enter Reema Maya's world then I will make it more of an illusion... I just wanted it to be her voice. She made it her own series.”
Sanjay Kapoor's daughter Shanaya Kapoor was reportedly going to be cast as a student in 'Student of the Year 3'.
What is CIFF?
Starting on March 27, the CIFF (Cinevesture International Film Festival) included more than 67 films from across the globe, including features from India, classics, and shorts. Film critic and curator Namrata Joshi of CIFF Market Projects presided over the masterclass session at which Karan Johar was speaking.
Who is Reema Maya?
Independent filmmaker Reema is well-known for her work as a writer-director. The 2023 Sundance Film Festival was the world debut of her most recent feature film, ‘Nocturnal Burger’. Red Bull, boAt, Netflix, and others have hired her to direct their promotional films.

‘Student of the Year’ (2012), produced by Johar's Dharma Productions, was the film that broke Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra into the film business. ‘Student of the Year 2’ was a spinoff sequel that came out seven years later. The sequel was directed by Punit Malhotra and starring Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria.
