Netizens Reject Kim Soo-hyun’s Claim, Show Evidence He Dated Kim Sae-ron At 15

Kim Soo Hyun has publicly addressed the swirling controversy regarding his alleged relationship with late actress Kim Sae-ron, marking his first comments on the issue.

South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun has publicly addressed the swirling controversy regarding his alleged relationship with late actress Kim Sae-ron, marking his first comments on the issue. The controversy, which has captivated the nation’s entertainment industry, gained momentum in March when a YouTube channel claimed Kim Soo Hyun had been involved with Kim Sae-ron while she was still a minor.

At a press conference on Monday, an emotional Kim Soo Hyun firmly denied the accusations. With tears in his eyes, he clarified that the allegations were utterly false and reiterated his innocence.

Following Kim Soo Hyun’s press conference, the YouTube channel Garosero released what it claims is evidence supporting the allegations that the actor had a relationship with Kim Sae-ron when she was only 15.

Among the material shared was a photo allegedly sent by Kim Soo Hyun to Kim Sae-ron via KakaoTalk in December 2015. At the time, Kim Sae-ron, born in 2000, was 15 years old. The image shows Kim Sae-ron eating snacks, and sharp-eyed netizens quickly identified it as being taken backstage at MBC's Music Core, where she had been a host in 2015. They also pointed out that in the photo Kim Sae-ron was wearing the same outfit and hairstyle from her appearance on the show, fueling further speculation.

Kim Soo Hyun's press conference

During the press conference, Kim Soo Hyun confirmed that he and Kim Sae-ron had been in a relationship for a year while filming the show ‘Queen of Tears’. However, he said that by that time, she was an adult, reiterating that their relationship was entirely appropriate.  He said, “I couldn’t accept (them) coercing me to take what’s fake as the truth. I never dated [Kim Sae-ron] when she was a minor. Except for the fact that both of us were actors, our relationship was just like that of any other ordinary couple. And it is not true that she had made this tragic choice because of me or my agency pressuring her over a debt.”

He also shared an audio recording, which he said proved Kim Sae-ron was not pressured by his agency, Gold Medalist, to pay back a debt she owed him. He accused her agency of lying and made it clear that he would only take responsibility for his own actions.
