No Matter What, People Like Us Will Stay Positive: Shahrukh Khan Amid Protests Against Pathaan

The King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan attended the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival on Thursday where he also spoke about the negativity on socia media.

The King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan is returning after four years to the silver screen with his upcoming spy-thriller movie 'Pathaan'. The film’s song 'Besharam Rang' has come under the fire. The Hindutva activists across the country have raised objections to the song and stated that the attire of actors encourages love jihad. They had objected to the dance sequence where Shah Rukh Khan is wearing a green colour shirt and Deepika is flaunting a saffron outfit.

Amidst the protest against the song, the actor attended the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival on Thursday where he also spoke about the negativity on social media.

Addressing the crowd he said, “Social media often driven by a certain narrowness of view that limits human nature to its baser self...I read somewhere-negativity increases social media consumption...Such pursuits enclose collective narrative making it divisive & destructive.”

“No matter what, people like us will stay positive”, he added.

Meanwhile, veteran south Indian actor Prakash Raj reacted angrily to the controversy surrounding the song.

"#Besharam Bigots.. So it's okay when Saffron clad men garland rapists.. give hate speech, broker MLAs, a Saffron clad swamiji rapes Minors, But not a DRESS in the film?? #justasking," Prakash Raj's tweet reads.

Pramod Muthalik, the founder of Sri Rama Sena, questioned Prakash Raj on his remarks. "It is Hindus who are showing patience and tolerance though they have been attacked," he said.

The Besharam song has become an instant hit after its release, crossed 2 million views in two hours and has crossed 42 million views till now.

'Pathaan' will release on January 25.
