Kulkarni will be consecrated as a Mahamandaleshwar. The title of Mahamandaleshwar is bestowed upon monks who have renounced worldly pleasures and dedicated their lives to spirituality. The Kinnar Akhara, founded by eunuchs and operating under the Juna Akhara, welcomed her into their fold as she performed the symbolic rite of Pind Daan, a ritual traditionally done to honour departed ancestors.

Mamta Kulkarni took a holy dip at the Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.

Kaushalya Nand Giri, also known as Tina Maa, a Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara, confirmed the actress's initiation. "Mamta Kulkarni performed her own Pind Daan at the banks of the Ganga on Friday. She will soon be consecrated as a Mahamandaleshwar," she told PTI.

Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, the Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara, will officially impart deeksha (initiation) to Kulkarni. Speaking to ANI, Tripathi said, “Kinnar Akhada is going to make Mamta Kulkarni a Mahamandaleshwar. She is now named Shri Yamai Mamta Nandgiri. She has been connected with the Kinnar Akhada and me for the past one and a half years. She is allowed to portray any devotional figure if she chooses, as we do not restrict anyone from pursuing their art.”
