‘They Voluntarily Decided’: Goa Congress On Candidates Staying In Resort Ahead Of Election Result
Kauthankar further said that they have adopted a “complex and comprehensive” strategy and asserted that his party was confident that they will form the government in the coastal state.
New Delhi: Amid reports of candidates of Goa Congress being forcibly made to stay in resort ahead of counting for Goa Assembly elections, the Goa Congress denied such claims and said that they were living there voluntarily.
Goa Congress General Secretary Sunil Kauthankar, refuting such reports said , “We have not forced any candidate to stay over (at the resort). They voluntarily decided to stay together...Not correct to say that we are keeping a hold on our leaders because leaders have come from other states also.”

Kauthankar further said that they have adopted a “complex and comprehensive” strategy and asserted that his party was confident that they will form the government in the coastal state.
“Strategy we've adopted is complex & comprehensive. We're very confident that all our candidates are sticking together. Got strong response from other political parties who have fought against BJP. Confident of forming a government tomorrow itself,” he said.
As the reports of shifting Congress candidates emerged, Goa Chief Minister on Tuesday had said that the party “always has fear in their mind.”

"I think the Congress party always has fear in their mind. They fear that the candidates whom they chose this time will run away. That is why they have started resort politics," ANI had quoted Pramod Sawant as saying.
Congress is leaving no stones unturned to avoid the 2017 fiasco where they had emerged as the single largest party but had failed to form the Government.
All India Congress Committee's election observer for Goa P Chidambaram and state in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao have been camping in the coastal state since last Sunday.
