Punjab Election 2022: Sidhu Not Fighting Against Corruption, Only For Becoming Next CM, Says Kejriwal
He said that Sidhu's campaign is not against corruption, but rather for the position of state chief minister, PTI reported.
New Delhi: Ahead of the upcoming Punjab assembly elections 2022, the Delhi chief minister & AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday slammed Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia for engaging in a verbal brawl and disregarding concerns affecting people in the Amritsar East assembly constituency, referring to them as "political elephants."
He said that Sidhu's campaign is not against corruption, but rather for the position of state chief minister, PTI reported.
'Both Of Them Are Abusing Each Other & The Public Issues Are Getting Burried': Kejriwal
In response to a query on Amritsar East MLA Sidhu and Majithia, who has been pitted against the cricketer-turned-politician from the seat, he claimed the Assembly segment's public issues are being buried as a result of their verbal battle.
"Both of them are abusing each other and the public issues are getting buried because of it. Nobody is talking about public issues. Both of them are kind of very big political elephants under whose feet the public gets crushed," Kejriwal was quoted by PTI in its report.
He stated that the people of Amritsar East are unconcerned by the rhetorical sparring between Sidhu and Majithia, but are worried about essential concerns such as power, drinking water, roads, and schools.
Kejriwal said that Sidhu does not return phone calls or meet with people in person.
He further claimed that the Congress leader had done little to help his constituents.
Majithia, on the other hand, is running from Amritsar East in order to beat Sidhu, according to Kejriwal.
"What do people have to do with all this?" he asked.
Kejriwal stated that the AAP candidate for Amritsar East, Jeevanjot Kaur, is going door-to-door and would always be accessible to listen to people's issues.
Amritsar East voters should guarantee that Kaur wins the election, beating Sidhu and Majithia, he added.
Kejriwal Refers Bhagwant Mann As "Kattar Imaandar"
In response to a query, Kejriwal stated that when he refers to his party colleague Bhagwant Mann as "kattar imaandar" (fiercely honest), his political opponents believe he refers to them as "kattar bhrashtachari" (corrupt), which highlights the contrast.
Targeting the AAP's political opponents, he said that they are just concerned with "looting" people, whereas Mann is concerned with Punjab.
Mann is the AAP's candidate for Chief Minister of Punjab.
In response to another query about initiating an investigation into suspected "theft" of money, Kejriwal stated that an account of every single rupee will be taken.
"Whatever money has been looted will be taken back," he added.
Bhagwant Mann was perplexed as to how the state had amassed a debt of Rs 3 lakh crore despite the fact that no new schools, hospitals, or roads had been constructed in the previous few years.
He also slammed Sidhu, saying the cricketer-turned-politician had been in the government for almost 14 years and still speaks about reforming politics.
Mann stated that during Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent visit to Punjab, Sidhu stated in his presence that he want authority in order to make decisions and did not want to be a "darshani ghoda" (showpiece).
Sidhu's campaign, according to Kejriwal, is not against corruption or for changing Punjab, but for the position of state chief minister.
