Conrad Sangma Govt Favoured Family, Ignored The Poor: Amit Shah In Meghalaya
Attacking the Conrad Sangma govt in Meghalaya for "favouring" his family in distributing jobs and benefits, Amit Shah assured that a SC judge-led committee would probe corruption cases in the state.
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday addressed a public meeting in Meghalaya's Rangsakona hitting out at the previous government as he said that the Chief Ministers in the state have worked for themselves and their families.
"Meghalaya has everything for becoming the most prosperous state of the region. But all earlier Chief Ministers never focused on the welfare of the people, instead, they worked for their families and 'personal development'," he remarked.
Attacking Tripura Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Amit Shah said that he and the Leader of the Opposition and former CM, Mukul Sangma both "have been into favouring their family members by distributing government jobs and benefits leaving the poor and commoners being completely ignored."
"BJP has promised that a Committee led by a Supreme Court judge will investigate all the corruption cases in the State, and will send the people involved in looting public money to jail," he emphasised.
"There is a BJP government in Assam and there no poor persons have to pay money from their pocket for their treatment," Shah added.
Amping up the attack, the senior BJP leader remarked that "Mukul Sangma has gone to TMC, a party that is known for Tolabaaji, Commissions, Corruption, and Hooliganism. He is going to bring this only to the State. On the other hand, Conrad Sangma has always failed you."

"Under 'Ayushman Bharat Yojana', treatment of up to five lakhs is done for free. Vote on the lotus symbol in Meghalaya, form the BJP government, and treatment up to five lakh rupees will be free," Union Home Minister mentioned.
Shah assured that if voted to power, the BJP will ensure youth development through skill development and provide employment opportunities. He also promised an uninterrupted power supply to all households of Meghalaya noting that, "under Conrad Sangma, the electricity discom of the State became bankrupt due to corruption by the State Government."
Citing Assam's example, Shah said, "Assam is only a short distance away from Meghalaya, there is a BJP government in Assam for eight years. Meghalaya has to develop like Assam, so vote on the lotus symbol and form the government under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi."
"We will work on the same developmental model of Assam for making a prosperous Meghalaya," he added.
The former BJP national president recalled that PM Modi gave Rs 24,000 crore for tap water connections for every household in Meghalaya. "But even after that, water supply wasn't provided to the households. This money was looted by people in power from the state," he remarked, adding that: "People haven’t been provided houses even after Modi Ji gave money for building pucca houses for the poor. This happened as the state government looted the money meant for building houses for the poor. Vote for BJP and every poor will get a pucca house before 2025."
The BJP, which was part of the NPP-led MDA government, BJP broke its alliance with the NPP before the elections in Meghalaya so that it can contest all 60 assembly seats in the February 27 elections.
