'Maharashtra Results Completely Unexpected, Incomprehensible': Uddhav On Mahayuti Victory

Reacting to the NDA alliance win in Maharashtra, Uddhav said he cannot beleive that the people who listened to him during Covid-19 will "behave in this way."

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray said that the victory of Mahayuti in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections was completely unexpected and incomprehensible.

Reacting to the NDA alliance win in Maharashtra, Uddhav said he cannot beleive that the people who listened to him during Covid-19 will "behave in this way."

"Cannot believe Maharashtra, which listened to him as “kutumb pramukh” (head of family) during the coronavirus pandemic, would behave with me this way," the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said while addressing a press conference. Thackeray said the results reflect that there was a tsunami rather than a wave and added that he would keep fighting for the rights of Maharashtra.

Speaking on the BJP's 'batenge toh katenge' slogan, the Shiv Sena leader said, "It did not work. Some things are secular like unemployment, inflation. Everyone is affected by it. So it did not work."

The Mahayuti alliance either won or was leading in 236 seats in the 288-member assembly, an unprecedented feat in the western state if the trend holds true. On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi managed to get 48 seats in Maharashtra.  Of the 95 seats it contested, the Sena (UBT) was winning or leading in just 20 seats. By contrast, Uddhav's archrival Eknath Shinde, who split the Bal Thackeray-founded Shiv Sena in 2022, powered his outfit to an emphatic show. Shinde's Sena was winning or leading in 57 seats as per the latest figures shared by the Election Commission.
