Maharashtra Polls: Sharad Pawar Mocks Ajit Pawar After Nephew's Outburst Over Baramati Contest — WATCH

Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar's family feud takes center stage in Maharashtra Assembly elections. Sharad Pawar mocked Ajit Pawar in a rally after the latter accused 'Saheb' of creating a family split.

In the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar find themselves in the spotlight with their family feud playing out on the campaign trail. Sharad Pawar has been actively campaigning, and on Tuesday, he lent his support to his grandson Yugendra Pawar. Following a strong performance in the Lok Sabha elections, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharad Pawar aims to replicate its success in the Assembly elections.

During the rally, Sharad Pawar mocked Ajit Pawar by removing his glasses and wiping his mouth with a handkerchief, drawing laughter from the crowd. His gestures were met with enthusiastic applause from supporters. The NCP founder himself shared a laugh at the response.

'Saheb Created Split Within Family': Ajit Pawar’s Emotional Outburst In Baramati

The incident follows Ajit Pawar’s emotional outburst on Monday, where he addressed his constituents in Baramati, a seat he has represented for seven consecutive terms. Ajit Pawar accused his uncle Sharad Pawar of turning the electoral battlefield into a family dispute. He remarked, “It takes generations to maintain family ties, but just a moment to break them.”

Ajit expressed disappointment over Yugendra’s candidature from Baramati, claiming it went against his mother’s wishes. Addressing a rally after filing his nomination papers, Ajit Pawar admitted his mistake of fielding his wife, Sunetra Pawar, against Supriya Sule, Sharad Pawar’s daughter and current MP, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Criticising Sharad Pawar for creating a split within the family, Ajit Pawar said, "I previously admitted to making a mistake, but it seems like others are now making errors too. My family and I had agreed to file the form in Baramati first, but that didn't happen. Despite the challenges, we managed to improve the situation. My mother has been very supportive, and she even advised that they should not nominate anyone against Ajit Pawar."

"However, I was told that Saheb (Sharad Pawar) instructed someone to file a nomination against me. Saheb created the split within the family. I just want to say that politics should not be brought to such a low level because it took the generations to be united and it doesn't take a single moment to break the family," he remarked, news agency ANI reported.

The outburst came as Ajit Pawar has to electorally fight his nephew, Yugendra Pawar, who is the grandson of Sharad Pawar after having lost the Lok Sabha seat to his sister Supriya Sule.
