Congress To Announce LS Candidates On 3 Delhi Seats After AAP 'Maharally' Against Kejriwal's Arrest: Report

The AAP and Congress are part of the opposition I.N.D.I.A. bloc.

Lok Sabha Elections: The Congress will declare its candidates for three Lok Sabha seats in Delhi after the 'Maharally' of its alliance partner Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday, news agency PTI reported on Friday, citing sources. The Maharally is set to be held at the Ramlila Ground in the national capital.

According to PTI sources, the alliance will stay intact even if Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in the money-laundering case linked to the now-scrapped excise policy for the national capital, is kept in jail.

The AAP and Congress are part of the opposition I.N.D.I.A. bloc. The AAP will contest four Lok Sabha seats from the national capital, while the Congress will field candidates from three.

The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Arvinder Singh Lovely in a statement said that the party will focus on the five 'Nyay' guarantees, promised by Rahul Gandhi during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, as reported by PTI. The guarantees call for the welfare of the youth, women, workers, farmers and the marginalised sections.

The Congress workers have been fully activated across Delhi to mobilize people for the "Save Democracy, Save Constitution" mega rally, which will be an historic event, Lovely said.

Meanwhile, the Congress on Friday released its ninth list of five candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The grand old party has fielded CP Joshi from Rajasthan's Bhilwara and Damodar Gurjar is set to contest polls from Rajasthan's Rajsamand.

Meanwhile, the Congress is likely to release its manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections on April 5 in the presence of top leaders, including party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and former party presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, PTI reported on Friday, citing sources.

The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases starting from April 19 and go on till June 1. The votes will be counted on June 4.
