Announcing his party's alliance with the saffron party, Dhinakaran stated that the BJP Tamil Nadu chief K Annamalai and BJP leader Kishan Reddy had contacted him, and he conveyed the party's support to the BJP-led alliance.
Earlier it was reported that AAMK has requested the BJP to contest on four to six seats to join the alliance. Dhinakaran had insisted on contesting from the Thevar community strongholds in south Tamil Nadu.
Apart from the four seats, the party had also demanded Madurai and Tirunelveli seats from the BJP.
Expressing confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's potential third term, Dhinakaran pledged that AMMK would contribute to the BJP's victory in Tamil Nadu, likening their role to that of a 'squirrel'
Dhinakaran, who was expelled from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, formed the Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazagam on March 15, 2018 as a breakwaway faction.
In January, another expelled AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam announced that rebel AIADMK leaders would join hands with TTV Dinakaran-led AMMK.
