Congress Leader Harish Rawat Dares Rivals To Prove 'Money For Tickets' Allegation

The veteran leader who was Congress' chief ministerial candidate, took to Twitter, and dared those levelling allegations against him to prove charges.

New Delhi: Former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat has taken strong objection to allegations levelled against him of taking money for tickets and posts in the recently concluded assembly elections.

The veteran leader who was Congress' chief ministerial candidate took to Twitter, and dared those levelling allegations against him to prove charges. He also said that action should be taken against him if the charges come out to be true.

"The allegation of selling of posts and party tickets in return for money is very serious, and if that allegation is being levelled against a person who has held several posts, including the Chief Minister, then the party should expel him," wrote Rawat on his twitter handle, reported news agency ANI.

"This is an allegation which is being levelled by someone who is at the responsible post in the party. The allegation is also being circulated by his supporters. I pray to God that the Congress party should initiate action against me and should expel me from the party," he further added.

Harish Rawat Monday took responsibility of Congress' drubbing at the hands of Bharatiya Janata Party in the Uttarakhand assembly election. He also apologised to leaders and members of the working committee.

The Congress managed to win 19 seats in the election, while the BJP won 47 constituencies, and got a vote share of 44.33 per cent to retain power in Uttarakhand for the second time in a row.

In the 2017 elections the BJP had formed government with an even bigger majority of 57 seats.
