Byelection Results 2022: SP's Dimple Yadav Looks To Bag Mainpuri Seat, BJP Leads From Bihar's Kurhani In Early Trend

Rampur Sadar and Khatauli in Uttar Pradesh, Kurhani in Bihar, Sardarshahar in Rajasthan, Bhanupratappur in Chhattisgarh and Padampur in Odisha are the assembly seats for which results will be declared.

Counting of votes for the six assembly seats across five states has started and the early trends indicate Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate winning from the Khatauli assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh. While the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Akash Saxena is leading from Rampur assembly seat.

Election was also held for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat after the demise of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, where SP candidate Dimple Yadav, who is also the wife of Akhilesh Yadav is in lead.

BJP's Kedar Prasad Gupta is leading in Kurhani in Bihar. While Anil Kumar Sharma of the Congress leads from Rajasthan's Sardarshahar.

However, these are only early trends and a clear picture in this regard will come out by noon.

The polling was held on December 5 in six assembly seats in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Follow Gujarat Assembly Election Results

Rampur Sadar and Khatauli in Uttar Pradesh, Kurhani in Bihar, Sardarshahar in Rajasthan, Bhanupratappur in Chhattisgarh and Padampur in Odisha are the assembly seats for which results will be declared today.

Counting of votes for the well-known Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, where the by-election was held due to the demise of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav is also underway.

Mainpuri has been a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party for a very long time. Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav is the SP candidate from the seat, while Raghuraj Singh Shakya, a former confidant of Mulayam's brother Shivpal Singh Yadav is the BJP candidate for the seat

The bypolls for Rampur Sadar and Khatauli seats in Uttar Pradesh took place after SP MLA Azam Khan and BJP MLA Vikram Singh Saini were disqualified in separate cases.

A direct contest is expected between Congress and BJP on the Bhanupratappur seat in Chhattisgarh. Bypoll was held on this seat after Congress MLA Manoj Singh Mandavi passed away last month.

Bypoll in Odisha's Padampur was also necessitated following the demise of sitting BJD MLA Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariha. While byelection in Bihar's Kurhani was held due to the disqualification of RJD MLA Anil Kumar Sahani.

Rajasthan's Sardarshahar seat went to the bypolls following the demise of Congress MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma after a prolonged illness.
