‘We Have This Option’: Tejashwi Yadav’s Big Statement On Boycotting Bihar Polls

He plans to discuss this with the Mahagathbandhan, questioning the election's validity when citizens are disenfranchised, keeping the boycott option open.

Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday gave a big hint on boycotting the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in the state.

"When everything has already been decided... they are being openly dishonest. Names of lakhs of people have been removed from the voters' list. We can think of boycotting the election," Yadav said while speaking to reporters in Patna.

"We will discuss this with all the parties of Mahagathbandhan. What is the meaning of an election when people will not vote in a democracy? We can discuss about boycotting the election, options are open," he added.

“Booth-level officers are putting their own signatures and thumb impressions, on behalf of voters, on enumeration forms. Blank forms are being used like waste paper. Independent journalists who point out these anomalies are getting slapped with FIRs. And the government is okay with all this because the EC is acting like a political tool of the ruling dispensation,” he alleged.

He alleged that booth-level officers are putting their own signatures and thumb impressions on behalf of voters on enumeration forms.

"Blank forms are being used like waste paper. Independent journalists who point out these anomalies are getting slapped with FIRs. And the government is okay with all this because the EC is acting like a political tool of the ruling dispensation,” he added.

The former Deputy CM expressed his anguish that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar “did not utter a word” on the issue, while the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Kumar Chaudhary “only tried to mix up the annual revision of electoral rolls with the special intensive revision that is taking place now”.
