South Delhi: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Ramesh Bidhuri from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 107000 votes. The polling / voting in South Delhi constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 6 on 12 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress Party#s Shri Vijender Singh

South Delhi 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 7 out of the 7 parliamentary seat with 46.4 percent vote share while the Aam Aadmi Party managed to win just seats with a 34.9 percent vote share.

Out of the 19 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from South Delhi, 17 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Ramesh Bidhuri of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Col Devinder Sehrawat by a margin of 107000 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 16005 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra attained 240654 votes and Indian National Congress candidate R. K. Anand bagged 224649 votes
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 29999 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra attained 261230 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Dr. Manmohan Singh bagged 231231 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Sushma Swaraj attained 331756 votes and INC's Ajay Makan bagged 215043 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Sushma Swaraj attained 294570 votes and INC's Kapil Sibal bagged 180564 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 50723 votes BJP candidate Madan Lal Khurana had got 208728 while INC got Romesh Bhandari votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Madan Lal Khurana attained 282904 votes and INC's Shubash Chopra bagged 177910 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 85051 votes INC candidate Lalit Maken had got 215898 while BJP got Vijay Kumar Malhotra votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and JNP here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his JNP counterpart with a difference of 4100 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Vijay Kumar Malhotra attained 183947 votes and INC's Charanjit Singh bagged 76390 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated BJS candidate by a margin of 71590 votes INC candidate Shashi Bhushan had got 168406 while BJS got Balraj Madhok votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, BJS candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 36321 votes. Here, BJS leader B. Madhok attained 105611 votes and INC candidate R. Singh bagged 69290 votes
