Background

Rohtak: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Deepender Singh Hooda from Indian National Congress (INC) won the elections by a margin of 170627 votes. The polling / voting in Rohtak constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 6 on 12 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Arvind Sharma and Congress Party#s Deepender Singh Hooda

Rohtak 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 7 out of the 10 parliamentary seat with 34.7 percent vote share while the Indian National Lok Dal managed to win just 2 seats with a 24.4 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Rohtak Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 66.62% Lok Sabha percent with 68.03% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 64.96% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 4932 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 14 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Rohtak, 12 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Deepender Singh Hooda of the Indian National Congress as he defeated Om Parkash Dhankar by a margin of 170627 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Bhupinder Singh attained 324235 votes and BJP's Abhimanyu bagged 173800 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Lok Dal candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INLD candidate Inder Singh attained 366926 votes and INC's Bhupinder Singh bagged 222233 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and HLD(R); here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his HLD(R) counterpart with a difference of 383 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and SAP here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his SAP counterpart with a difference of 2664 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JP candidate with a difference of 30573 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Bhupender Singh attained 241235 votes and JP candidate Devi Lal bagged 210662 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Devi Lal attained 390243 votes and INC's Hardwari Lal bagged 201238 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated LKD candidate with a difference of 30931 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Hardwari Lal attained 216294 votes and LKD candidate Sarup Singh bagged 185363 votes
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, JNP(S) candidate defated JNP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JNP(S) candidate Inder Vesh attained 219004 votes and JNP's Sher Singh bagged 97564 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Sher Singh attained 320550 votes and INC's Munphool Singh bagged 60905 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between BJS and INC here BJS candidate defeated his INC counterpart with a difference of 4671 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated BJS candidate by a margin of 55596 votes INC candidate R. Singh had got 176258 while BJS got R. Sarup votes.
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, JS candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 20107 votes. Here, JS leader Lehri Singh attained 155618 votes and INC candidate Randhir Singh bagged 135511 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 26615 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Ranbir Singh attained 104690 votes and IND candidate Dhaja Ram bagged 78075 votes
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated ZP candidate by a margin of 70026 votes INC candidate Ranbir Singh had got 151802 while ZP got Hari Ram votes.
