Background

Narasaraopet: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Sambasiva Rao Rayapati from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won the elections by a margin of 35280 votes. The polling / voting in Narasaraopet constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telugu Desam Party#s Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and YSR Congress Party#s Lavu Krishna Devarayulu

Narasaraopet 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telugu Desam Party won 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 29.1 percent vote share while the YSR Congress Party managed to win just 8 seats with a 28.9 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Narasaraopet Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 84.63% Lok Sabha percent with 85.25% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 84.03% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 5985 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 11 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Narasaraopet, 9 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Sambasiva Rao Rayapati of the Telugu Desam Party as he defeated Ayodhya Ramireddy Alla by a margin of 35280 votes.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 13882 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Janardhanareddy Nedurumalli attained 432266 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate Lal Janbasha S.M bagged 418384 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 47819 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Konijeti Rosaiah attained 375815 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate Saidaiah Kota bagged 327996 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 18958 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Saidaiah Kota attained 316360 votes and Indian National Congress candidate K. V. Krishna Reddy bagged 297402 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 62616 votes INC candidate Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy had got 349041 while TDP got Anisetty Padmavathi (W) votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 65706 votes INC candidate Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy had got 402289 while TDP got Pidatala Renga Reddy votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 14238 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Katuri Narayanaswamy attained 295059 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Kasu Bramananda Reddy bagged 280821 votes
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Independent candidate by a margin of 84296 votes INC(I) candidate K. Bramhananda Reddy had got 238854 while IND got Popuri Brahmanandam votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated BLD candidate by a margin of 88071 votes INC candidate Brahmananda Reddy Kasu had got 246146 while BLD got Illuri Kotireddy votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated IND candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Maddi Sudarsanam attained 237264 votes and IND's Yeeram China Narasimharao bagged 106413 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated SWA candidate by a margin of 64431 votes INC candidate M. Sudarsanam had got 185963 while SWA got T.K. Chowdary votes.
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Independent candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 29936 votes. Here, Independent leader Chapalamadugu Ramiah Chowdry attained 78332 votes and INC candidate Nandala Anjaneyulu Reddi bagged 48396 votes
