Namakkal: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Sundaram P.R from All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) won the elections by a margin of 294374 votes. The polling / voting in Namakkal constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam#s P. Kaliappan and Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi#s Chinnraj

Namakkal 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam won 37 out of the 39 parliamentary seat with 44.3 percent vote share while the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to win just 1 seats with a 5.5 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Namakkal Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 79.63% Lok Sabha percent with 79.64% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 79.62% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 16002 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 26 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Namakkal, 24 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Sundaram P.R of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam as he defeated Gandhiselvan.S by a margin of 294374 votes.

  • 2009 Lok Sabha Elections: In 15th Lok Sabha poll, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate defated All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in one-sided contest. Here, DMK candidate S. Gandhiselvan attained 371476 votes and ADMK's Vairam Tamilarasi.V bagged 269045 votes.
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and DMK here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his DMK counterpart with a difference of 8951 votes.
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 26535 votes. Here, Independent leader E. V. K. Sampath attained 182066 votes and INC candidate T. A. M. Subramania Chettiar bagged 155531 votes

The SP-BSP-RLD combine is all set to outshine the BJP-led NDA in Uttar Pradesh in the coming Lok Sabha elections, a survey commissioned by ABP News has found. The BJP, which stormed to power in the Centre with the help of 71 out of 80 seats it had won in Uttar Pradesh in previous election, is projected to suffer a huge loss to its seat tally this time.

The survey conducted in Purvanchal region predicts a gain for the super coalition with SP-BSP-RLD winning 15 seats and BJP falling short on just 11 seats. Congress which is also one of the front runners in the forthcoming polls is likely to win no seats in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh.
