Background

Jalpaiguri: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bijoy Chandra Barman from All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) won the elections by a margin of 69606 votes. The polling / voting in Jalpaiguri constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s DrJayanta Ray and All India Trinamool Congress#s Bijoy Chandra Barman

Jalpaiguri 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Trinamool Congress won 34 out of the 42 parliamentary seat with 39.8 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 2 seats with a 23 percent vote share.
