Amethi: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Congress President Rahul Gandhi from Indian National Congress (INC) won the elections by a margin of 107903 votes. The polling / voting in Amethi constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 5 on 6 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Smriti Irani and Congress Party#s rahul gandhi

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 71 out of the 80 parliamentary seat with 42.3 percent vote share while the Samajwadi Party managed to win just 5 seats with a 22.2 percent vote share.

• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 23270 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Sanjay Singh attained 205025 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Captain Satish Sharma bagged 181755 votes
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 40143 votes. महात्मा गांधी के हत्यारे नाथूराम गोडसे को देशभक्त करार दिये जाने के अफसोस में तपस्या के लिए बैठीं बीजेपी नेता साध्वी प्रज्ञा सिंह ठाकुर. उन्होंने ट्वीट कर कहा, ''चुनावी प्रक्रियाओ के उपरान्त अब समय है चिंतन मनन का, इस दौरान मेरे शब्दों से समस्त देशभक्तों को यदि ठेस पहुंची है तो मैं क्षमा प्रार्थी हूँ और सार्वजनिक जीवन की मर्यादा के अंतर्गत प्रयश्चित हेतु 21 प्रहर के मौन व कठोर तपस्यारत हो रही हूं. हरिः ॐ''
