NEET-UG Results 2024: Delhi HC Junks Plea By 3 Aspirants To Appear For Retest

The Delhi High Court on Thursday junked a petition by three medical aspirants seeking permission to appear in NEET-UG, 2024 re-test on June 23 (Sunday), on the ground of loss of time.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday junked a petition by three medical aspirants seeking permission to appear in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Under Graduate) NEET-UG, 2024 re-test on June 23 (Sunday), on the ground of loss of time. The petitioners moved the high court alleging that they suffered because of loss of time during the exam held on May 5 for which they were neither compensated with extra time nor awarded any grace marks.

However, the high court found that they were already allowed extra time at the examination centre as the question paper given to them initially had to be replaced.

The high court found no merit or substance in their petition.

A vacation bench of Justice Manoj Jain stated that the report of Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) is very specific and there is nothing to indicate that three petitioners were entitled to appear in re-test.

The court noted that they were given extra time for the same at the exam centre.

According to the plea, the petitioners were supplied a particular set of question paper and OMR sheet which was duly filled out by them. However, in the middle of the examination, the question paper and OMR sheet were taken away from them and replaced with another set.

The students contended that this resulted in loss of time for which they were neither compensated by allowing extra time nor awarded any grace marks. However, the high court rejected their argument after noting that the Supreme Court has already approved the GRC report, where they were not found eligible for retest.
