NEET Row: Owaisi Criticises NDA Govt Over NEET Issue, Calls For 'Supreme Court-Monitored Re-Exam'

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has demanded a re-exam for NEET, monitored by the Supreme Court.

Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has criticised the NDA government at the Centre over alleged irregularities in NEET, demanding a re-examination monitored by the Supreme Court. During a public meeting at Darussalam, the party's headquarters, on Tuesday, he asserted that the "NEET exam has become a joke." Criticizing Narendra Modi's pre-board exam interaction with students, he accused the prime minister of "destroying" students' futures and shattering their parents' dreams, as reported by news agency PTI.

Allegations of question paper leaks in states like Bihar and other irregularities have sparked protests in several cities and led to petitions being filed in multiple high courts and the Supreme Court.

Owaisi said, "Have some shame, BJP people. Twenty-four lakh children (appeared for the exam). You are saying we will conduct a re-exam for only 1,500 and take away grace marks. There should be a total re-exam. The NTA is nonsense. Its head is an RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) man from Madhya Pradesh," he said.

AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) president Asaduddin Owaisi has demanded a re-exam for NEET, monitored by the Supreme Court. "The NTA cannot do it. The NTA got destroyed," Owaisi remarked, supporting the idea of state governments conducting their own entrance exams.

Owaisi claimed that NEET benefits the children of wealthy people and criticized the BJP as an "anti-education government." He urged Modi to address the issue of re-conducting a Supreme Court-monitored NEET in his "Mann ki Baat" program.

An unprecedented 67 students scored a perfect 720 in NEET-UG, with six from a center in Haryana's Faridabad, raising suspicions of irregularities. Allegations suggest that grace marks contributed to these top scores.

NEET-UG, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in government and private institutions nationwide.

Owaisi also addressed the alleged demolition of houses in Madhya Pradesh for beef smuggling, questioning why only certain homes were targeted under the pretext of illegal construction. He claimed that the BJP's 'Sabka Saath' slogan is merely "drama."

Referring to a clash between two groups in Odisha's Balasore, Owaisi alleged the incident occurred shortly after the BJP assumed power in the state. He also mentioned a recent communal clash in Telangana's Medak town, urging the Congress government to take the incident seriously and to pass legislation on the prevention of communal riots, a bill prepared by the Manmohan Singh government. He confirmed AIMIM's support for the bill.

Owaisi also announced that AIMIM will field candidates in the Maharashtra assembly polls later this year.
