Assam Govt To Set Up Law Colleges In State, Now Quality Education At Low Cost

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that his government will set up law colleges in the state, So that quality education can be available at affordable cost.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said his government is committed to setting up a law college to provide quality education at an affordable cost. According to a statement issued by the chief minister's office, the chief minister said this while laying the foundation stone of the Jorhat Government Law College.
Sarma said that the state government has decided to set up colleges at Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur, Rangia, Dhubri, Diphu, Silchar, Tezpur, Nalbari and Nagaon and all institutions will have modern facilities.

Mostly Law College established by private organizations
The chief minister said that earlier most of the law colleges in the state were set up by private organizations. He said that in view of the National Policy on Education 2020, the state government has decided to implement the provisions of the policy across the state to bring about an ideal change in the distribution of quality education in the state.

3000 High School  to be upgraded by 2022
He said that under NEP 2020, 3000 high schools in the state will be upgraded to senior secondary schools by 2022. The state government will also increase the number of universities in the state and a target has been set to set up a college in each development block to spread higher education to all sections of the youth of the state. Jorhat Government Law College has been fully scheduled within 24 months of a budgetary outlay of Rs 14.74 crore.
