IIT Kanpur To Offer 10 Special Scholarships To Top 100 JEE Advanced Rankers; Third Year In A Row

The scholarship would cover all expenses for selected candidates including tuition fees, living, books and other expenses for the entire four years of their B.Tech/BS journey at IIT Kanpur.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) will be offering 10 scholarships to Top 100 JEE Advanced 2023 Rankers. The move comes in as a continuation of the premier engineering institute’s continuous efforts to boost academic excellence. Under its ‘Bright Minds’ scholarship scheme, the IIT kanpur awards 10 prestigious scholarships to candidates who break into the ‘Top 100’ rank list of the JEE Advanced 2023. Notably, this is the third consecutive year in which the IIT Kanpur will offer these lucrative scholarships to JEE Advanced candidates. 

The scholarship was first introduced in the year 2021 with support from IIT Kanpur alumnus Lokvir Kapoor. The scholarship program is aimed to help sustain meritorious students in the IIT ecosystem, breaking financial barriers. The scholarship covers the entire tuition fee and staying expense. The scholarships would be awarded to those candidates who enrol at the IIT Kanpur in the B.Tech/BS Programs for the 2023-24 session. Each shortlisted candidate under the scholarship will be awarded an amount of Rs 3 lakhs per year. The selected students will be offered the scholarship for all four years if they maintain a consistent CPI of 8.0.

In a press release, the Prof Abhay Karandikar, Director IIT Kanpur said: ““IIT Kanpur is revered for its pioneering efforts in furthering higher education in India for more than six decades now. We strive to offer the best of facilities and environment to our students. This unprecedented initiative serves as a testament to our commitment to recognize and reward academic excellence. By conferring these scholarships upon the top 100 JEE rankers, we strive to encourage meritorious students and help them make their academic aspirations into tangible realities.”

On average a student at the IIT Kanpur spends around 12 lakh rupees in the entire 4 academic years of the undergraduate B.Tech course. The ‘Bright Minds’ scholarship scheme covers every financial aspect of the selected candidates to ensure that their bright and meritorious journey is never stalled by financial hurdles.
