Delhi University: DUSU President & Vice President Offices Vandalised, Police File FIR As ABVP & NSUI Trade Blame

New Delhi: A vandalism incident has been reported at the Delhi University Students Union, DUSU office early morning.

New Delhi: Amid an ongoing controversy at Delhi University regarding allegations of fake degrees involving some office bearers allegedly from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a vandalism incident has been reported at the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) office. Delhi Police said that members of both student unions, ABVP and NSUI, clashed at the DUSU office on Saturday night. As per news agency ANI, the Delhi police noted that a vandalism incident happened at the DUSU office at Delhi University. Around 3 am, the office of the DUSU Vice President was vandalised first, followed by the office of the DUSU President. Both belong to different political parties.

The suspects are being identified and legal action is being taken. The police are registering an FIR based on the complaint of a security guard who was present during the incident, ANI cited police as saying.

"They (NSUI members) broke everything in my office such as glass, LED, windows and table. These people do whatever they can for cheap publicity. We will go to Delhi University administration and will meet the Chancellor. I am also in talks with DCP (North)," DUSU president and ABVP member Tushar Dedha said.

“I am the only female representative in DUSU. I don’t feel safe after my office was vandalised by NSUI. No female student feels comfortable going to their office. NSUI only works to intimidate and threaten,” DUSU Secretary and ABVP member Aprajita Thakur told PTI.

Responding to the allegations, NSUI president Varun Choudhary rejected the accusations made by the ABVP. He stated that these claims are just an attempt to distract from the serious issue of ABVP office bearers at Delhi University holding fake degrees.
