Delhi School Reopening: DDMA Orders Delhi Schools To Remain Shut For Students Up To Class 8

Delhi Schools Reopening: DDMA had earlier allowed schools to be re-opened for classes 6 to 8 from September 8, 2021, after the capital registered a decline in the number coronavirus cases.

Delhi Schools Reopening: The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided that schools in the national capital will remain closed for students up to class 8. The decision has been taken while keeping the safety of students in mind due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Delhi schools will continue to remain closed for students up to Class 8," said DDMA.

Earlier, the DDMA had allowed schools to be re-opened for classes 6 to 8 from September 8, 2021, after the capital registered a decline in the number coronavirus cases.

The Delhi government had already reopened schools for Class 9 to 12 students with 50 perr cent attendance. Regarding this, DDMA has also issued official SOP.

Recently, the Himachal Pradesh government has also decided to postpone the reopening of the schools for regular classes until September 21, 2021, in view of the rising number of the Covid-19 cases. Around 200 cases of Covid-19 are being reported on a daily basis in Himachal Pradesh. The positivity rate of the Covid-19 cases has again increased to about 2% from 0.9% in July 2021.

Schools across the country were closed after the nationwide lockdown on March 24 last year in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. Though offline classes resumed from October last year, schools were once again forced to close after the deadly second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
