Delhi LG Approves Foreign Tour For Dy CM Manish Sisodia To Attend TESOL Education Convention

Delhi LG VK Saxena has approved a foreign tour for deputy CM CM Manish Sisodia to attend TESOL Education Convention event.

Delhi LG VK Saxena has approved a foreign tour for deputy CM Manish Sisodia, his secretary & secretary (Education) to attend an event TESOL Education Convention to be organised in the City of Portland, Oregon, USA.

The LG office said on Friday that the education department informed them that the expenses for a specific visit will be covered by the organizers and will not incur any financial burden on the government. However, it was stated that the costs for the visit of Sisodia will be borne by the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD).

"LG, despite noting that both these statements were contradictory to each other & it was not clear as to whether the Delhi govt will bear the expenses for Sisodia’s visit or not, gave in-principle approval for the proposed visit, subject to requisite clearances," said the LG office.

On Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged that Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena is "misusing the powers of the unconstitutionally amended GNCTD Act" by not allowing the Delhi government to send its teachers abroad for training.

He said the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government is sending its teachers to Singapore for a training programme on Saturday. However, in Delhi, Saxena is "stopping" the Kejriwal government from doing the same.

He alleged that the amendment in the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) Act has given LG powers to interfere in the functioning of the Delhi government.

The AAP-led Delhi government has approached the Supreme Court on the matter.
