New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister & Education Minister Manish Sisodia has recommended for the CBSE students of 10th and 12th standard to be promoted on the basis of their internal assessment as conducting external exams remains out of option due to the Coronavirus situation in the country.
Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal had a meeting with the education ministers of all states to discuss concerns risen from the nationwide lockdown. Education Ministers of 22 States and secretaries from 14 States and Union Territories attended the meeting through video conferencing.
Other suggestions by the Delhi Education Minister include reducing the entire course syllabus by 30%. Additionally, the entrance examinations of JEE, NEET and other higher education institutions to also be held on the basis of the reduced syllabus.
The Delhi government has asked Doordarshan and AIR to give 3 hours of air-time daily, to broadcast on-air classes for students.
Meanwhile, the HRD Minister has appealed to all the states to start the process of evaluation of answer sheets of Board exams and facilitate CBSE to evaluate answer sheets of the students in their respective States.
Taking cognizance of all concerns and issues, he assured them that the Ministry will extend its full support to states in this difficult time. Earlier, the HRD Ministry had announced that India's premium institutes - Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) - will not raise the tuition fee for any course for the academic year 2020-21. The decision was taken considering the problems being faced by students because of the Coronavirus lockdown. Earlier this month, the HRD minister had also ordered private schools to revise annual fee hike.
