2 Killed, 23 Injured In Stabbing Spree At China Hospital
The stabbing spree took place at Zhenxiong People's Hospital in Yunnan Province, in southwest China.
At least two people were killed and 23 others sustained injuries in a knife attack at a hospital in southwest China, as reported by the BBC. The stabbing spree took place at 13:20 local time (05:20 GMT) at Zhenxiong People's Hospital in Yunnan province, according to state media. According to media reports, the numbers were not final. In the images published by China's The Paper, a man in black can be seen who appears to be wielding a knife in each hand, as reported by the BBC. Another man was standing in front of him in that shot.
In the footage on The Paper, police vehicles and at least a dozen police officers can be seen outside the hospital. The entrance to the hospital's parking lot had also been cordoned off. As per some reports, authorities have made an arrest, but there are no details pertaining to the arrest.
China has witnessed a spate of knife attacks in recent years, despite a ban on firearms in the country.
In 2023, two people lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries after a man with mental illness attacked people with a knife in a residential district in Yunnan. In July of the same year, at least six people, including three children, were killed in a kindergarten stabbing in the south-eastern Guangdong province.
