Bihar News: Ward Councillor Shot Dead In Hajipur, Tejashwi Slams CM Nitish Kumar

A ward councillor was shot dead in Bihar's Hajipur on Tuesday night by unidentified bike-borne assailants.

Bihar News: A ward councillor was shot dead on Tuesday evening in Bihar's Hajipur by bike-borne assailants. The incident took place in Digghi Kala under the limits of Sadar police station in Hajipur, said the police. 

Ward Councilor Pankaj Rai of Ward No. 5 of Municipal Council was at his clothes shop when 2-3 people came on a bike and fired 2 to 3 shots at him at around 8 pm, a police official told PTI. 

Following the incident, nearby people gathered at the spot and took him to Sadar Hospital with the help of his family, where the doctors declared him dead. 

As soon as the information about the murder was received, the superintendent of Police Har Kishore Rai reached Sadar Hospital and took information about the entire case.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased have alleged that an application was submitted at the Sadar police station stating that Rai was a threat to life. However no action was taken despite submitting the application which led to his murder, the family said, reported ABP News. 

Police have got some inputs on the basis of which investigation is being carried out, said the official, adding that the deceased and the accused had some earlier disputes.

Following the incident, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav slammed the Nitish Kumar government of the state.

Taking to his X account, the Rashtriya Janata Dal leader said that the Chief Minister and the two Deputy CMs are sleeping while their goons are creating anarchy.

"NDA goons led by Nitish Kumar shot dead ward councillor Pankaj Kumar in Hajipur at night. The CM and two deputy CMs are sleeping peacefully while their goons are creating mayhem," Yadav said in his X post.
