A 22-year-old woman was reportedly killed by her husband less than a month after their marriage, allegedly due to her family’s inability to provide the Rs 5,000 he had demanded. The incident took place late Monday night in Hussainpur village, Dhampur, Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the TOI report, Police discovered the incident when neighbours informed the family of the woman. The 25-year-old suspect identified as Shoeb Ahmad had been exerting pressure on his wife, Tarannum, to get money from her maternal family.

On Monday evening, Shoeb visited his in-laws to demand Rs 5,000, but they were unable to fulfill his request. The family alleged that an intoxicated Shoeb returned home and, in a fit of rage, killed Tarannum.

Additional SP Dharam Singh Marchal stated, "The body was sent to the district hospital for autopsy, and the woman's family filed a complaint against five people, including Shoeb and his father, Anees Ahmad. Police have detained Shoeb and Anees, and the investigation is ongoing."

A separate incident was reported on January 2, where the woman in the Belagavi district of Karnataka was arrested for allegedly murdering her husband and chopping his body, police stated on Thursday.

Belagavi Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled revealed that the body was discovered on December 10 in Umarani village, Chikkodi taluk, Belagavi. “A three-member team led by the deputy superintendent of police camped in the village and investigated the case," the Belagavi SP stated on Thursday, Hindustan Times reported.

Initially, police did not suspect the wife, Savithri, but later brought her in for questioning. While she denied involvement at first, she eventually confessed to the crime. The murder reportedly took place on December 8, two days before the body was found.

According to police, Srimantha Itnali was an alcoholic who frequently abused his wife for money. On the day of the murder, he had an argument with her over a piece of land she owned, demanding she sell it to buy him a new motorbike.

Confession highlighted that she killed him that night while he was sleeping outside. “She first strangled him and when he was unconscious, used a boulder lying nearby to smash his face. She then disposed of the boulder in a well,” the SP said.

The woman also discarded the barrels used to transport the body parts. “The accused is now in custody,” Guled confirmed.
