Bhopal Rain: Roads Submerged In MP Capital, Lightning Strike Claims 4 Lives In 3 Districts

Bhopal News: The state of Madhya Pradesh is experiencing heavy rainfall, with capital Bhopal and several other districts, including Rewa, Raisen, and Gwalior, significantly affected. On Thursday, torrential rain began in Bhopal at 2:30 pm and continued for about two hours, resulting in submerged roads and severe disruptions to daily life.
The adverse weather also led to tragic incidents. Four persons lost their lives due to lightning strikes in the districts of Chhatarpur, Seoni, and Dindori. In light of the ongoing situation, the meteorological department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall across 11 districts in the coming hours.

Bhopal Roads Under Water
The rains in Bhopal provided some respite from the heat. Heavy rain commenced at 3 PM, following a humid and cloudy morning. The continuous downpour left the city waterlogged with most roads submerged.

Arun Sharma, a scientist at the Bhopal Meteorological Department, explained that the monsoon activity in Madhya Pradesh is influenced by two systems. The monsoon is currently passing through the Guna and Narsinghpur districts, while a cyclonic circulation system has developed over southern Gujarat and Saurashtra. These systems are collectively causing the continuous rainfall across various districts of Madhya Pradesh.
According to the met department, heavy rains are expected in North Neemuch, Sehore, Raisen, Bhimbetka, Ashoknagar, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Datia, Ratangarh, Niwari, Orchha, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Khajuraho, and Panna. These areas are also at risk of lightning strikes.
Additionally, southern Neemuch, Sheopurkalan, Morena, Bhind, Guna, Vidisha, Udayagiri, Bhopal, Bairagarh, Jabalpur, Bhedaghat, Katni, Satna, Mandla, Kanha, Seoni, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Sagar, Dindori, Balaghat, Anuppur, Amarkantak, Shahdol, Umaria, Rewa, Mauganj, Maihar, Sidhi, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Betul, Harda, Pandhurna, Narmadapuram, Pachmarhi, Mandsaur, Dewas, Indore, Khandwa, and Burhanpur are forecasted to experience light storms and lightning, with rainfall expected later in the night.
