The department has started adding QR code to PAN cards. The QR code can help identify between real and fake PAN cards. You can scan the QR code in your smartphone to find out if the PAN card is genuine or fake. For this, you will have to take help of an app from the Income Tax Department.
Find out authenticity of your PAN card with this process
- To find out whether the PAN card you have is real or fake, you need to first visit the income tax department's E-Filling portal.
- For this, you should first visit the official website of the Income Tax Department at www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal.
- Then click on 'verify your PAN' option.
- Then a new page will open in front of you.
- Here you will be asked for your complete PAN information which you are required to fill up.
- Here you need to enter PAN card number, name, Date of Birth and mobile number.
- You will then receive a message about whether your data matches or not.
-After that you will easily come to know whether your PAN card is real or fake.
