PM Kisan 20th Installment Expected Soon: Here's How Farmers Can Claim Benefits

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme continues to be a key financial lifeline for crores of Indian farmers. Launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the initiative aims to provide an annual monetary benefit of Rs 6,000 to eligible farmers, disbursed in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 every four months through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The 20th instalment under the scheme is anticipated to be transferred to farmers’ bank accounts by the end of June 2025. However, an official confirmation regarding the disbursement date is still awaited from the government.

Enrolment And Documentation

To receive benefits under PM-KISAN, farmers must register either online at the official PM-KISAN portal pmkisan.gov.in or offline through a nearby Common Service Centre (CSC) or by reaching out to designated state government officers. The following details are mandatory for enrolment: name, date of birth, Aadhaar number, bank account details including IFSC/MICR code, and a mobile number.

e-KYC: A Crucial Step

After registration, completing the e-KYC process is essential. Farmers can complete Aadhaar-based OTP e-KYC online or choose the biometric route at a CSC. For OTP-based e-KYC:

  • Visit pmkisan.gov.in
  • Click on the ‘e-KYC’ link
  • Enter the Aadhaar number and submit
  • Verify the OTP sent to the registered mobile number

Scheme Highlights And Eligibility

PM-KISAN, a centrally funded initiative, was launched on December 1, 2018. All landholding farmers are eligible, except individuals in specific exclusion categories, such as those holding or having held constitutional positions, government employees, pensioners earning over Rs 10,000, taxpayers, and professionals like doctors, engineers, and lawyers.

Previous Disbursement Milestone

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 19th instalment during a special event in Bihar, benefitting approximately 9.8 crore farmers across the country.
