Share Market News: On the 30-share Sensex platform, HDFC Bank, TCS, IndusInd Bank, HUL, UltraCemco, TechM were among the gainers
Share Market News: The two key equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty, on Monday opened higher, tracking positive Asian sentiments. At 10.35 am, the BSE Sensex jumped 210 points to 75,621. On the other hand, the NSE Nifty50 was trading at 22,996, up 39 points.
Stock update
On the 30-share Sensex platform, HDFC Bank, TCS, IndusInd Bank, HUL, UltraCemco, TechM were among the gainers. On the down side, Wipro, Maruti, NTPC, M&M, Sun Pharma, Titan emerged losers.
In the broader markets, Nifty Midcap soared to all-time high of 52,812, while Nifty SmallCap jumped nearly 1 per cent to 17,050.
Sectoral update
Sectorwise, Nifty Realty led with 1.35 per cent gains, followed by PSU Bank and Healthcare.
In the previous session on Friday, BSE Sensex dropped 8 points to settle at 75,410 and th NSE Nifty50 ended with a marginal decline of 11 points at 22,957.
Global update
In the Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong were trading in the positive territory. Wall Street ended with gains on Friday.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.21 per cent to $82.29 a barrel.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 944.83 crore on Friday, according to exchange data.
Rupee rises 4 paise
Meanwhile, the rupee appreciated by 4 paise to 83.06 against the US dollar on Monday, tracking a positive trend in domestic equities, wherein benchmark indices scaled new peaks. Forex traders said the weakness of the American currency in the overseas market supported the rupee, while elevated crude oil prices in the international market restricted the upmove.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 83.08 and gained further ground to trade at 83.06 against the greenback, registering a gain of 4 paise from its previous closing level. On Friday, the rupee rallied for the fourth consecutive trading session and settled with a sharp gain of 19 paise at 83.10 against the US dollar.
