Maruti Suzuki India Limited has officially started commercial production at its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana. Meanwhile, the three-row version of the Grand Vitara was recently spotted testing near Maruti Suzuki's Kharkhoda plant in Haryana, where production of the new SUV is set to take place.
Design elements of the vehicle suggest it draws inspiration from the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara electric SUV.
The upcoming seven-seater Grand Vitara is expected to be built on the global C-platform. Spy photos show that the extended version features a longer profile and new alloy wheels. The front of the vehicle is likely to showcase an updated grille, a reworked bumper, and redesigned headlamps with refreshed daytime running lights (DRLs). At the rear, the SUV may feature connected LED taillamps, a shark-fin antenna, and a new bumper design.
Inside, the larger Grand Vitara is expected to boast a revamped dashboard with a large infotainment touchscreen. Additional features may include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, and rear AC vents. Although not officially confirmed, the inclusion of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) is a possibility.
The three-row Grand Vitara is expected to share its mechanical foundation with the five-seater model, retaining the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 1.5-litre hybrid powertrain. Transmission options are also likely to remain the same.
Upon its launch, the seven-seater Grand Vitara will compete with other three-row SUVs, including the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, Mahindra Scorpio-N, Kia Carens, and MG Hector Plus.
