Gautam Adani Becomes 4th Richest Person In The World; Overtakes Microsoft Co-Founder Bill Gates

Gautam Adani’s net worth reached $115.5 billion on Thursday eclipsing Bill Gates, whose fortunes are at $104.6 billion

Indian business tycoon Gautam Adani has surpassed Microsoft Co-founder Bill Gates to become the world's fourth richest person, according to Forbes' Real-Time Billionaires List.

According to the report, Adani’s (60) net worth reached $115.5 billion on Thursday eclipsing Bill Gates, whose fortunes are at $104.6 billion.

Reliance Industries’ Chairman Mukesh Ambani, with $90 billion of net worth, now ranks 10th on the Forbes’ list.

Bill Gates slipped one spot to be the fifth richest in the world after donating $20 billion from his wealth to his non-profit last week.

Meanwhile, Tesla Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and SpaceX Founder Elon Musk tops the chart with $235.8 billion. Musk has been involved in a huge controversy after his bid to acquire Twitter only to abandon it later.

On the second spot, Bernard Arnault & family from France with net worth of $155.6 billion is on the second position, while Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos with $148.4 billion of wealth ranks third on the list.

Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires rankings tracks the daily ups and downs of the world’s richest persons. The wealth-tracking platform provides ongoing updates on the net worth and ranking of each individual confirmed by Forbes to be a billionaire.

The Adani group chairman is famed for turning a small commodities trading business into a conglomerate spanning ports, mines, and green energy. He overtook his fellow countryman Mukesh Ambani to take Asia's richest spot on the back of the jump his personal fortune in February.

Last week, Gautam Adani’s firm Adani Ports said it has won the tender for the privatisation of the Port of Haifa in Israel in partnership with Gadot.

Recently, Adani Group said it is in the race to acquire 5G spectrum, which be used to create a private network to support its businesses from airports to power as well as data centres. Adani Data Networks, along with Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, has also applied to take part in the auction.
