Crypto ATMs: Over 39,000 Machines Installed In 78 Countries, Including 2 In India

To put things into perspective, back in January 2017, the total number of crypto ATMs stood at nearly 1,000.

Cryptocurrencies are slowly gaining recognition around the world. Along with that, more and more crypto ATMs are also getting set up around the world. As per data from Coin ATM Radar, first reported by Bitcoin.com, in the first week of August 2022, the total number of crypto ATMs installed across the globe surpassed 39,000 in total. For those unaware, a crypto ATM allows users to buy or sell cryptocurrencies in exchange for real-world cash. Interestingly, the data showed presence of two crypto ATMs in India as well, both located in Delhi-NCR.

To put things into perspective, back in January 2017, the total number of crypto ATMs stood at nearly 1,000. By 2020, there were less than 10,000 machines globally. And now, as per Coin ATM Radar, there are now 39,015 functional ATMs in 78 countries, at the time of writing.

In India, there are two crypto ATMs installed — one at Workly Nehru Place in Delhi and another at MyOffiz Co-Working Space in Gugugram.

In terms of countries, the US leads with the most crypto ATMs, commanding about 87.9 percent of the total count, with nearly 34,300 machines.

Unsurprisingly, Bitcoin (BTC), the world’s oldest and most valued crypto coin, is supported by 39,000 of the total machines in the world. Litecoin (LTC) is the second-most supported coin (32,468 ATMs), followed by Ether (ETH) at the third position (29,326 ATMs).

As per Coin ATM Radar, Bitcoin Depot is the top crypto ATM operator, followed by CoinCloud, Coinflip, and others.

Compared to the numbers back in 2017, the total number of crypto ATM installations has jumped by 3,925 percent since then. This shows how popular Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have become across the globe.
