The Rajya Sabha MP also pointed out that it is for the first time after 23 years that after tabling of Union Budget, domestic indices including Sensex and Nift witnessed a jump of 5 per cent. "This happened 23 years ago, when then Finance Minister P Chidambaram in 1997 presented the dream Budget, the share market saw a massive surge."

Modi also said that healthcare sector has been given prime focus in this Budget to fight the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. "Nearly Rs 2 lakh 23 thousand crore has been allocated to healthcare sector which was just 84 thousand crore in last Budget. When asked about his take on Centre's call of this being an Atmanirbhar Budget and India will become a self reliant country post this 'historic' Budget, the BJP leader said, "It is not possible for India to become Atmanirbhar in one day, we take taking steps in that direction."

While speaking about the unemployement crisis, Sushil Modi said that capital expenditure is the best medium to generate employment. "Expenditure on sectors such as highways, roads, railways, airlines lead to asset creation and generates employment. The biggest challenge was many becoming unemployed as factories were shut last year and to generate employment it was important to spend on these sectors as much as possible and Centre has done a commendable job in doing that," he added.
