ABP Budget Conclave | Sushil Modi Hails Centre's Budget, Says It Will Generate Employment In Post-Covid Era

New Delhi: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi on Tuesday attended ABP News' Jan Man Dhan Budget Conclave where he spoke at length about his views on the Union Budget 2021 tabled by Nirmala Sitharaman. While speaking with Akhilesh Anand Sushil Modi said that the Budget presented by Centre is entire focused on handling Coronavirus induced challenges and how to bring country's economy back on track. The Rajya Sabha MP also pointed out that it is for the first time after 23 years that after tabling of Union Budget, domestic indices including Sensex and Nift witnessed a jump of 5 per cent. "This happened 23 years ago, when then Finance Minister P Chidambaram in 1997 presented the dream Budget, the share market saw a massive surge."
Modi also said that healthcare sector has been given prime focus in this Budget to fight the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. "Nearly Rs 2 lakh 23 thousand crore has been allocated to healthcare sector which was just 84 thousand crore in last Budget. This is three times of what healthcare had in Budget," he said pointing out that Rs 35,000 crore has been allocated just for Covid vaccination drive.

When asked about his take on Centre's call of this being an Atmanirbhar Budget and India will become a self reliant country post this 'historic' Budget, the BJP leader said, "It is not possible for India to become Atmanirbhar in one day, we take taking steps in that direction."
While speaking about the unemployement crisis, Sushil Modi said that capital expenditure is the best medium to generate employment. "Expenditure on sectors such as highways, roads, railways, airlines lead to asset creation and generates employment. The biggest challenge was many becoming unemployed as factories were shut last year and to generate employment it was important to spend on these sectors as much as possible and Centre has done a commendable job in doing that," he added.
