BMW India CEO Rudratej Singh Gets Cardiac Arrest While Working Out On Treadmill; Passes Away At 46

Rudratej Singh had joined BMW Group India in August last year. Before that, he worked at Royal Enfield as the Global President for four years and six months.

New Delhi: German luxury car maker BMW India has been swayed by the sudden demise of its 46-year-old President and CEO Rudratej Singh. Rudratej Singh, president, and chief executive officer of BMW Group India, died on Monday morning following a cardiac arrest. The automaker informed about the demise in a statement this morning saying that, "BMW Group India, with profound sorrow, announces the demise of Rudratej Singh (46), President and Chief Executive Officer on April 20, 2020". Rudratej Singh had joined BMW Group India in August last year. Before that, he worked at Royal Enfield as the Global President for four years and six months. While the company said the cause of his death was still being ascertained, sources close to Business Today said that Rudy, as he was lovingly called by his friends and colleagues, died of a cardiac arrest while working out on the treadmill in his home in Gurgaon. Before entering the Indian automotive industry, Rudratej Singh had 16 years of experience at Unilever. He joined Unilever as Area Sales Manager of West UP zone in 1998 from where he rose to become the Vice President of the South Asia region in October 2012. "Our prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult period. He'll always be remembered as an inspiring and compassionate human being," BMW Group India said in the statement. His transformational vision and strategic orientation played a crucial role in the navigation of BMW Group India in a challenging business environment. The automaker stated the death of Rudratej Singh comes at a time when BMW Group India was in midst of achieving the strategic measures for strengthening its dealer network across India. Rudratej Singh, a man with over 25 years of experience who held several leadership positions, both in the automotive and non-automotive industries. The demise of Rudratej Singh is unquestionably a big loss for the Indian automotive industry. The current month has been an ill-fated one for BMW India. Earlier, on 7th April, Mihir Dayal (40), Sales Director, BMW Group India passed away after battling cancer.
