While the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) listed a total of 14 bank holidays, there will be seven weekend holidays including Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.
New Delhi: With Durga Puja and Eid-e-Miladunnabi to be observed in October, banks across India will see plenty of holidays this month. There will be 21 holidays in all, which will include other occasions too.
While the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) listed a total of 14 bank holidays, there will be seven weekend holidays including Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.
While some holidays differ depending on whether the particular state observes the occasion, banks remain closed on all public holidays and gazetted holidays.
The Reserve Bank of India-mandated bank holidays are based on three rules — holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act; holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and banks’ closing of accounts.
While the upcoming calendar month has a lot of holidays, there will be only one long weekend. The holidays are otherwise spread out.
