Tata Altroz Racer To Get Segment First Features But No DCT

Altroz Racer will get more features like six airbags and ESC

Tata Motors is putting the finishing touches to its next launch which is the Altroz Racer and this sporty premium hatchback will carry more than a power increase as it will also get more features.

While the 120bhp turbo petrol would no doubt be the highlight, the Altroz Racer will get more features such as a voice assisted sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 360 degree camera and ventilated front seats. The sporty hatchback will also get more features such as six airbags and ESC.

If you look at the power figures, it will get a significant increase over the Altroz iTurbo with 120bhp and 170Nm- which would be around 10hp and 30Nm more. This would make it as powerful as some of the other turbo petrol cars. However, interestingly, the Altroz Racer will only come with a 6-speed manual gearbox and it will not come with a DCT automatic.

The probable reason for that is that it will increase the price of the car but some of the segment first features on the other hand are also crucial additions. The exterior styling would also be racier to reflect the increased power figures with twin stripes on the hood, new alloy wheels and a new grille design plus new colours would be offered too.

The hot hatchback segment currently has only a few players with the i20 N Line being amongst them but this would be an important addition to the Altroz line-up as a halo product of sorts. We expect prices to be in the region of Rs 10-12 lakh. The Altroz Racer was shown earlier in a near production form but now it is ready to hit the showrooms.
