The battle lines are drawn and suddenly you have three new affordable electric cars within the mass market range in the Rs 15 lakh price bracket. MG will be launching the Comet soon and that will be in the same price bracket although it is not a conventional rival to the other two!
Range
In terms of EVs, range is the most important figure and here the Tiago EV has a claimed range of 315km from its 24kWh battery pack. The eC3 meanwhile has a range of 320km with its 29.2kWh battery pack. The MG Comet will have a battery pack in the region of 20kWh battery pack with a claimed range between 200-250km.
Features
Tiago EV meanwhile has a features-list which includes connected car tech, TPMs, climate control, cruise control and auto headlamps plus more. The eC3 also has a decent features-list which includes a bigger 10-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, connected car tech and more. The Comet has dual 10.25-inch screens, climate control, electronic parking brake, power folding mirrors and more.
Practicality
The Comet has two doors although they are large while the rear seat space is also surprising with space but we are yet to test it. The eC3 and the Tiago EV both have four doors and hence are practical too.
Prices

The eC3 comes at Rs 11.5 lakh starting while the top-end model is Rs 12.4 lakh. The Comet is expected to be positioned as a premium urban compact EV and would be priced between Rs 10-15 lakh.
