Dhanteras 2024: Puja Muhurt, Vidhi, And All About Worshipping Lord Kuber And Dhanvantari

Dhanteras will be celebrated on October 29, 2024. Performing rituals at an auspicious time on Dhanteras is believed to bring wealth, prosperity, happiness, and fame.

Dhanteras 2024: The Deepotsav festival begins with Kartik Krishna Paksha's Trayodashi, known as Dhanteras or Dhan Trayodashi. According to legends, during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean), Lord Dhanvantari emerged with a pot of amrit (nectar), and the gods revered him as the deity of health. The amrit in his hand symbolised prosperity, so on this day, alongside worshipping Lord Dhanvantari, people also honour Kubera, the god of wealth, to gain health, prosperity, and abundance.

Dhanteras Puja Vidhi:

Performing Dhanteras puja at this auspicious time is believed to bless devotees with an increase in wealth and the grace of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kubera. Start the puja by purifying the worship area with saltwater and sprinkling a mixture of rose water and Ganga water for a fragrant, sacred environment. Place idols or images of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, and Kubera.

Begin with self-purification by touching holy water to your right and left ears, eyes, and reciting the "Om Apavitra Pavitra Va" mantra. Light 11 or 21 oil lamps, reciting the Deep Mantra, “Shubham Karoti Kalyanam.” Place two lamps at the main office entrance on small mounds of wheat and the rest around the workspace.

Offer flowers and water to Lord Ganesha, chanting "Om Gan Ganapataye Namah" 11 times. Seek Lord Dhanvantari’s blessings for the health of your family and staff by reciting "Om Dham Dhanvantre Namah," then turn to Goddess Lakshmi, reciting “Om Shreem Hreem Kamale Kamalaye Praseed Praseed,” to invoke prosperity. Offer prasad and distribute it to family or staff. After the puja, shop during the auspicious hour and illuminate the home with diyas for blessings and abundance this festive season.
