Upset Over Losing Cabinet Berth, Ex-Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Sucharitha Quits As MLA
Sucharitha handed over the resignation letter to Rajya Sabha member Mopidevi Venkata Ramana
New Delhi: In what could be known as a massive revamp of the cabinet in Andhra Pradesh, 14 new ministers have been inducted into the cabinet while the rest of 11 have been retained from the earlier cabinet. With new ministers seen as happy, there were a few upset for not making it to the 25-member cabinet.
Dissatisfied over not being able to seal the cabinet berth, ex-Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharitha resigned from the assembly in protest. Sucharitha handed over the resignation letter to Rajya Sabha member Mopidevi Venkata Ramana. Her followers have raised slogans and hit the streets to protest against the decision of Jagan for not to take her to the cabinet.
“The resignation letter has been drafted in the speaker’s format and handed over to Mopidevi," Sucharitha's daughter told the Times of India. She however said that her mother would continue in YSRCP.
According to the reports, she is the lone Dalit minister, who is dropped from the list. In the previous cabinet, five Dalit ministers were there of which four have been retained. Sucharitha is the only Dalit minister, who couldn't seal a cabinet berth.
