Tirumala Temple To Be Closed For 12 Hours Due To Eclipse On October 25, November 8

The paid rituals, including the 'Kalyanotsavam' conducted daily at the shrine, will not be done during the two days of approaching eclipses. 

The hill temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala will remain closed for 12 hours on October 25 because of surya grahanam (solar eclipse) and on November 8 due to chandra grahanam (Lunar Eclipse).

Solar eclipse will occur on October 25 between 5.11 pm to 6.27 pm. The doors of the hill temple will be closed from 8.11 am to 7.30 pm. However, devotees will be allowed to offer prayers after 7.50 pm.

Similarly, on the day of lunar eclipse on November 8, which will occur between 2.39 pm to 6.19 pm, the temple doors will be closed by 8.40 am and re-open on 7.20 pm.

The paid rituals, including the 'Kalyanotsavam' conducted daily at the shrine, will not be done during the two days of approaching eclipses. TTD has also cancelled VIP Break Darshan, Unjal Seva, Brahmotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara Sevas on these two days.

All the privileged darshans, including for senior citizens, physically handicapped, parents with infants, NRIs, defence personnel etc., also remains cancelled. 

Only Sarva Darshan pilgrims will be allowed for darshan after the re-opening of temple doors through VQC-II on these two days.

Usually, during grahanam days, cooking will not be done till the eclipse is over. The Annaprasada Bhavan will also remain closed till the completion of the eclipse.

TTD has appealed to devotees from across the country and overseas to note the advisory issued on the two eclipse days occurring on October 25 and November 8 and plan their pilgrimage accordingly to Tirumala to avoid inconvenience.

Meanwhile, two people were injured after a scuffle between devotees from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in the darshan queue of Tirumala on Monday. According to the sources, the incident occurred when the devotees from Guntur asked persons from Tamil Nadu to give them way for going to the washroom.
