Jagan Mohan Reddy's Uncle Vivekananda Murdered Due To Rs 8 Cr Land Dispute: Approver

The submissions revealed that a deal of Rs 40 crore was stuck between the accused to murder the former MP Vivekananda.

Chennai: A land deal for Rs 8 crore led to the murder of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's uncle and former MP YS Vivekananda Reddy, according to the statement by one of the accused, who worked as a driver to the former Minister and recently turned approver to CBI.

According to a report on Times of India, the CBI recorded the statement of Shaik Dastagiri under Section 164 of CrPC and submitted the approver's statement to a Magistrate in Kadapa. The submissions revealed that a deal of Rs 40 crore was stuck between the accused Yerra Gangi Reddy, Sunil Yadav, Gajjala Umashankar Reddy, and Shaik Dastagiri to murder the former MP Vivekananda.

The dispute between Vivekananda Reddy and Gangi Reddy started after the former accused the latter for his defeat in the MLC elections in 2017. While the rift between the two continued a land deal came as a blow between the two, said a report on The New Indian Express.

Vivekananda Reddy received Rs 8 crore from a land deal in Bengaluru and Gangi Reddy allegedly felt that he did not receive the right share while dividing the money. Hence, according to the approver, Gangi Reddy called Sunil Yadav and Uma Shankar Reddy in February 2019 to plot a murder plan for finishing Vivekananda Reddy.

For this, they got into a Rs 40 crore deal and when Dastagiri showed reservations towards the idea, Gangi Reddy said Shankar Reddy will handle the issue and convinced Dastagiri. Following this, all the three accused were given Rs 1 crore each, and Dastagiri was promised a total of Rs 5 crore.

All the accused went to Vivekananda's home on March 14 and 15 as they already conducted a recce and they overpowered the MP. They then axed him to death just before the 2019 elections.
