Andhra Pradesh: Several TDP Leaders Arrested For Protesting Against Attacks On Their Party Offices

TDP senior leaders were placed under house arrest across Andhra Pradesh after the party called for a day-long shutdown to protest against the attacks on its offices

Hyderabad: Senior leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were placed under house arrest across Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday after the party called for a day-long shutdown to protest against the attacks on its offices. While the leaders who came out on the streets and tried to stage protests were arrested by the police.

Supporters of the YSRCP on Tuesday allegedly attacked the TDP's central office at Mangalagiri and party offices located in other parts of the state. TDP spokesman Pattabhi Ram's remarks against CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy have allegedly annoyed the YSRCP leaders.

The TDP Spokesperson house located in Vijayawada also came under attack and was ransacked. Terming the attacks 'state-sponsored terrorism', TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu called for a state-wide shutdown.

Chandrababu Naidu tweeted: "I strongly condemn YSRCP's attack on the TDP office today. This attack is a case of state-sponsored terrorism. From peddling drugs to indulging in violence - members of the YSRCP are working overtime to ruin Andhra Pradesh. Law & order has gone for a toss. #YCPTerroristsAttack"

Senior TDP leader Devineni Uma was arrested at Gollapudi in the Krishna district. Despite arrests, the TDP leaders staged a protest at the Vijayawada bus stand. TDP MP K Rammohan Naidu and other party leaders were arrested in Srikakulam. Former minister Kala Venkatrao was placed under house arrest at Rajam.

Top TDP leaders including MLA Meenakshi Naidu, Tikka Reddy, K Sujatamma, S Venkateshwarlu, KE Prabhakar, Bhuma Brahmanand Reddy, and MLC Farooq were placed under house arrest in Kurnool district while MLA G Butchaiah Chowdary was placed under house arrest in Rajamahendravaram.

TDP leaders Sugunamma and Narasimha Yadav were kept under house arrest in Tirupati. Other senior ministers like Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy and Palla Srinivas Rao were also placed under house arrest in Visakhapatnam. Many party leaders who were protesting in the Visakhapatnam district were arrested.
