Andhra CM Jagan Reddy Launches 4G Services In Remote Areas, 209 Villages To Benefit

The Chief Minister launched the operations of 100 towers through which 209 remote corner villages will receive 4G services.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy virtually launched 4G internet services in remote areas of the state on Thursday. The Chief Minister launched the operations of 100 Jio towers established by the Reliance Group.

Interacting with district collectors, public representatives, and officials through video conferencing enabled by the new towers, the Chief Minister said it would also help all houses in remote areas get internet connectivity, IANS reported.

"It will help all households in remote areas get internet connectivity…209 remote corner villages will receive 4G services," said Reddy in an official release.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Telecommunications Department at the Centre, BSNL, Reliance Jio, and Airtel for extending their services to remote corners of the state.

Reliance has set up 85 towers in the Alluri Sitaramaraju district, 10 in the Parvatipuram Manyam district, three in the Annamayya district, and two in the YSR district. These towers are expected to be upgraded to 5G soon.

To ensure widespread broadband coverage across the state, the government has collaborated with the Universal Service Obligation Fund and Reliance Group to establish mobile cell towers. Out of the 2,849 planned tower locations, the government has already provided land for 2,463 sites. The remaining towers are scheduled to be established by December.

By facilitating the establishment of these towers, the government aims to extend 4G services to 5,459 households in remote areas where mobile connectivity was previously limited. The newly installed towers will enable internet users to download data at a speed of 150 Mbps and upload at 50 Mbps.

The Chief Minister highlighted that village secretariats, RBKs (Rythu Bharosa Kendras), village clinics, and schools would also benefit from the broadband services.

He emphasised that this infrastructure development would facilitate the implementation of welfare schemes, e-learning, healthcare services, e-crop booking, and the distribution of rations.
