BNP never believed in a developed B'desh: Hasina
Dhaka [Bangladesh], Apr 2 (ANI): Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has alleged that the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) were never involved in the nation-building process and didn't believe in the idea of a developed Bangladesh.
They (BNP) never believed in development of the country, they were never involved in development and will never be in the future. They have 'rewarded' the killers of Bangabandhu (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman) and handed over the national flag to war criminals," said Hasina.
Criticising the BNP-Jamaat-e-Islami ring for arson attacks in the past, Hasina termed the attacks as "terrorist acts" and asserted that she did not want to see their recurrence anymore in Bangladesh.
"These are absolutely terrorist acts. We don't want such terrorist acts to occur again. We want peace in the country. Destruction is the character of BNP-Jamaat nexus," The Dhaka Tribune quoted Hasina as saying.
She further said that her ruling Awami League party wanted peace and were in favour of development of the country.
Continuing her tirade against her arch-rival and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's recent court ruling in the Zia Orphanage Trust case, Hasina alleged that "embezzlement" was BNP's character to loot other people's money.
"They're involved in money laundering, terrorism, militancy and bombing attacks. Their characters have been unmasked through these evil activities," she claimed.
Wishing to see Bangladesh in a 'dignified position' by 2021, the Bangladesh Prime Minister said that her government will ensure that there will be no hunger and poverty, adding that she would continue the development of the country. (ANI)
